Dolphin Foundation to Support Underwater Research and
Training of Professionals The Chairman of DOEIL, Rear Admiral Kirpal Singh (Retd.), today announced the formation of the Dolphin Foundation, a public trust to support underwater professionals, with a personal donation of Rs. 5,00,000. Announcing the launch of the Foundation at a seminar on Underwater Safety, Sustainability & Advances in Underwater Technology held at the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai today, the Chairman said: "I have benefited enormously from opportunities in the Navy and later, in the Offshore industry. I believe, this industry can be a powerful engine of social change in India, providing highly paid jobs to skilled professionals. I hope this small beginning will offer opportunities for talented youngsters who are already working in the industry or wish to join it." The Dolphin Foundation will support research and development in Underwater Technology and training to enhance diving skills of underwater professionals. It will also provide medical relief to those in need within the industry. Three hundred feet under water, hanging by the umbilical
cord that supplies essentials like the gases one breathes and the communication
links, one does not take chances. Regardless of how much or how well one
trains, ultimately one has to think on ones feet, fins to be accurate. Those wishing to support the objectives of the Foundation
